Finally – a way to save wine

Throughout 6,500 years of winemaking, keeping opened wine from deteriorating has been a problem. Ironically, the solution was always right under our noses in the form of an inert gas called argon.

Widely used throughout the west and the choice of many of the world’s most respected critics, winesave® is now available in China. Used for keeping opened wine fresh, even for weeks at a time, winesave® has dramatically improved the experience and enjoyment of wine for thousands of wine lovers.

The very fast rate at which wine changes and then deteriorates after opening has, for centuries, meant that a bottle of wine needed to be consumed virtually right away. That has all changed. Even if enjoying wine alone, it’s now possible to have, for example, a glass of Champagne (yes, it works with sparkling wines as well) and then perhaps a Chablis followed by, say a Burgundy. Three glasses, from three different bottles, and the 70% left in each bottle remaining in perfect condition until re-opened another day.

winesave® is pure, food grade argon which is an inert gas that has no properties at all, no taste, no colour and comprises just one atom. And it cannot be made to mix (or ‘combine’) with anything else. But it is heavier than air and so once discharged into a wine bottle, it falls down as far as it can go and then comes to rest across the surface of the wine. Since it has no properties at all and therefore contains no other gases, particularly oxygen, it provides a barrier between the wine and the destructive oxygen above it. The science is very simple. More about this at here.

It has been used at major wine events featuring experts such as Robert Parker Jr, Allen Meadows (the ‘Burghound’) and has attracted the attention of many of the world’s greatest producers such as Philippe Guigal of Chateau d’Ampuis (where winesave® is used every day in the tasting room). It has also received glowing reviews from the world’s most respected critics such as Jancis Robinson (Financial Times of London) and John Gilman (View From the Cellar, New York). Their comments and those of others can be seen here.

Part of the appeal of winesave® to serious wine lovers is the ease of use (it comes in an elegant canister and the gas is dispensed into the wine bottle at the press of a button) and the cost (less than 70 Yuan). For the first time, winesave® is now available in the PRC. It can be purchased online at www.winesave.com.
