WSET Level 1 Award in Wines

Course Overview

Providing a straight forward introduction to wine, the Level 1 Award in Wines is an entry level qualification. The course aims to develop a base level skill, providing a boost to confidence and to obtain a greater understanding of the wines they are drinking. The principles of food and wine matching, including practical exercises, supplement learning about the main grape varieties.

The course concludes with a 45-minute multiple choice exam at the end of the last lesson. Price includes all materials, wines and exam fees. 6 hours of seminar time.

With a maximum size of 10 students, Berry Bros. & Rudd offer the highest level of tutor-student interaction available. Only premium quality benchmark samples are used and presented by some of Hong Kong’s most experienced educators. All hold the WSET Level 4 Diploma, whose teaching experience extends from 5 to 30 years.

Your Host – Amanda Longworth

Born and educated in Sydney, Australia, Amanda’s corporate background is in marketing and communications. Hong Kong is now home for Amanda after living and working in the US, UK, Korea, Singapore, China and Japan. Amanda’s studies in wine began in 2005 and she now holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma, considered to be the essential stepping-stone to the prestigious title of Master of Wine. She is a WSET (Wine Spirit Education Trust) certified educator, and was the recipient of the prestigious Wine Australia Scholarship, awarded to the top performing Diploma candidate in Asia-Pacific in 2012.
