With the wine brewery history of over a century, Yantai is the birth-place of industrialized wine production in modern China. Yantai contributes 30% of China’s total wine production. It was conferred the title “International Vine and Wine City” by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in 1987, the only city in Asia that was awarded this honor.

Sponsored by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), China National Association for Liquor Circulation and the People’s Government of Shandong Province of the PRC, Yantai International Wine Festival(renamed Yantai International Wine Exposition since 2012), is well known in Chinese wine business as one of the most important wine events in Yantai as well in China. Its past 6 sessions since 2007 saw participation of around 400,000 visitors and 1,500 leading wineries and accessory companies from home and abroad. The successful holding of this event plays a vital role in strengthening the international exchange and cooperation in the sector of vine and wine.
