Tinazzi winery: a brand with a long tradition but with an innovative organic soul

By

Starting from 2021, Tinazzi has launched its brand-new project, to add value to its already existing portfolio: two lines of products - one from Veneto and the other one from Puglia – entirely dedicated to organic wines.

Why organic? The Tinazzi family firmly believes that organic is the future. The Covid pandemic has upset habits, and food and beverage consumption will be increasingly aware and respectful. It is estimated that, by 2023, organic will increase more than double the actual wine sales. Respect for the environment and attention to the supply chain translate into an engagement to the quality of life for us and, above all, for our families.

To maintain a scientific and valid approach for the project, Tinazzi has commissioned a research company to carry out a survey in some of the biggest markets, where Tinazzi already exports its products: Europe, USA and China. The aim was to verify the following parameters:

- perception and interest of organic food & beverage of Italian origin (especially perception of Italian organic wines);

- perception and imagery of organic products in different countries;

- positioning (product, price, promotion, place/distribution);

- appreciation of the studied packaging.

Around 2.500 people were interviewed (which consume red, white and rosè wines at least four times a year). Three out of four significantly share the claims that organic products are safer for health. Organic products preserve nature and the environment. Moreover, most of the respondents are “quite” interested or “a lot” interested in organic wines.

When asked "What are the communication concepts of organic wine that interest you the most?" respondents mainly said: product quality, non-use of chemical agents, company history. Sustainability and ecologic concepts are the main reasons for a consumer to buy organic wine. Moreover, the Tinazzi winery has been existing for 50 years, and this additional element reassures the consumers about the quality of the product.

Regarding bottle packaging, the survey results underline the preference of the consumers for natural and green images. Different labels were proposed, and the most voted was the label containing butterflies with an overwhelming 80% of the preferences.

The closure with screw cap was proposed to the interviewees; the response was very positive because the screw cap is easy to open and the bottle can be closed easily, so that the wine can be stored and its quality is preserved.

Eventually, most of the interviewed expect to find these products in supermarkets and specialized organic wine shops.
