The Evening Sale: Treasures from a Swiss Connoisseur Part II

May 15

Each lot in this highly anticipated auction is traceable back to its point of sale, with original invoices held by the department. The lots were either bought in Bordeaux through various négociants and shipped directly to the consigner, or were acquired through some of the most celebrated wine auctions of the last two decades, featuring property from the collections of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tawfiq N. Khoury and more. Highlights include 25 double magnums of Château Latour 1982, double magnums of Château Margaux 1982, magnums of Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafite Rothschild, impériales of Château Lafite Rothschild 1961 and a methuselah each of 1983 and 1993 La Tâche.

Fine and Rare Wines featuring Cellar Selections of Vega Sicilia

May 16

Christie’s is delighted to offer one of the most comprehensive collections of pre-war Unico ever to come to auction. Originally from a Spanish owner in Madrid, many of the wines were reconditioned in February 2013 by the Vega Sicilia cellar master Xavier Ausas, who personally checked the quality of each bottle under the supervision of a notary. This offering is a rare opportunity to purchase multiple bottles of Vega Sicilia from the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s, including magnums and several bottles of the legendary 1938 Unico White—a wine so rare that even Ausas had never tried it prior to seeing this collection. This sale also features a roll call of great wines from France, including Bordeaux, Jayer, Leroy and DRC.
