Eight Chinese wines from Ningxia, Xinjiang, Hebei and Beijing that have previously won medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards and Decanter Asia Wine Awards were recently available to taste in London.
The Chinese wines were showcased at private members’ club 67 Pall Mall last week, as their importer, Panda Fine Wine, sought distribution deals in the UK market.
The award-winning Chinese producers on show included Helan Qingxue of Ningxia, Tiansai Winery of Xinjiang and Chateau Rongzi of Shanxi.
Price was a major obstacle to Chinese fine wine producers seeking to export, said Jasper Morris MW in a previous interview with DecanterChina.com.
Distribution prices for the wines on show last week ranged from £10 to £45. Many of these wines have never been represented in the UK wine market before, said the importer Panda Fine Wine.
The portfolio was selected by Meiyu Li, consultant of Park Hyatt Beijing and previously a judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
